In August 2020, I had the misfortune of moving into the Wellington Apartments Homes, managed by Aion Management, and ever since I have been significantly disappointed with the deplorable conditions and the quality of their service.
Shortly after moving into the apartment (which differed from the video I was provided of the unit), I discovered that the unit was infested with cockroaches, first apparent in the dishwasher and the living room. Eventually, I found that they had broken through the... seal of the refrigerator, as there were dead roaches on the shelves in what had previously been a spotless appliance. A pest control specialist came once and has never returned, despite my request for regular treatments, forcing me to address the issue myself.
In time, I raised concerns regarding the trash and recycling services (for which they charge their tenants). The bins were not being emptied and for well over a month, despite numerous calls with management, the recycling sat overflowing into the parking lot. All along management and the recycling company falsely insisted that the bins were being emptied. While the issue has sense been rectified, the trash is not emptied frequently enough.
As winter approached, significant issues with the heating became apparent, and it was clear that no heat was being provided to the unit despite a reading of 80 degrees on the thermostat. Several calls were required before I could get through to management, the phones going to voicemail and my messages never returned (a common trend with this company). Eventually a technician was sent over and they determined that there was no heat to several units in the building, indicating that they hoped to resolve the issue by the end of the week. In the meantime, I became incredibly ill as the temperature went lower and lower, unaddressed. After I called back maintenance and demanded an immediate solution, a representative came to open the heat valve, which provided minimal heat for a time before temperatures dropped again.
Despite below freezing temperatures at the time, tenants received no communication from the management company until earlier this week when I received a notification that the work order was canceled, even though the issue has not been resolved. It remains unresolved at this moment with the management company not returning my calls or adjusting the rent.
Based upon these issues, I cannot in good conscience recommend that anyone rent a unit here.
