The Tannery
Built in 1901 as a leather tannery, this Georgian Revival – style building has been imaginatively restored into 51 luxury apartments, located in Old City and just steps from the vibrant neighborhood of Northern Liberties. With soaring 16-foot... ceilings, massive wooden beams, expansive windows and exposed brick-interior walls, Penn’s View apartments are spacious and bright, a tad funky and wonderfully livable.
I moved two months ago, and I must say I’m feeling stressed and anxious about ongoing issues. While I understand that some problems are expected in any apartment, having to constantly call maintenance for issues that should be addressed is not what I’m paying for. I’ve missed work because maintenance often fails to show up on the promised day, requiring repeated follow-ups.
The kitchen doors have been falling apart, and despite our requests, maintenance did not respond, so my husband had to repair them. We’ve had a serious mouse infestation, and although we waited a week for a response, the exterminator’s follow-up visit never happened as promised.
There have also been issues with the laundry machines—leaking, and a broken dryer took a week to fix. The washing machine is still not repaired, despite the maintenance person promising to come today and not showing up.
Additionally, there was a major leak in the bathroom, causing water to fall directly into the sink and toilet as if it were raining inside. I called the office but received no response until my husband called again. Maintenance arrived five hours later and only said they would return the next day, which did not happen.
I’m very disappointed with the living conditions here. It’s frustrating and costly, especially when we had to eat out for all our meals due to kitchen issues. I rarely express dissatisfaction, but this experience has been extremely disappointing.
